Henan Yangbo Lightning Protection Technology provides deep support for the large-scale integrated photovoltaic storage project in the Democratic Republic of Congo

On the vast African continent, the dawn of clean energy is illuminating the green transformation path of mining. Recently, good news came from the Democratic Republic of Congo that the Lamika “source grid load storage” integrated project has been officially connected to the grid and put into operation. As the overall solution provider for the lightning protection system of this project, Henan Yangbo Lightning Protection Technology, with its cutting-edge intelligent lightning protection technology and global service vision, has laid a solid foundation for the safety of this important energy project in this African mining country, helping it achieve stable power supply in weak grid environments.
This project is a benchmark project in the energy sector of the Democratic Republic of Congo, constructing a 50 megawatt peak (MWp) photovoltaic power station and a 100 megawatt hour (MWh) energy storage system. After the project is put into operation, it is expected to provide an average of about 80 million kilowatt hours of clean electricity per year, which is a milestone for improving the local ecological environment and ensuring energy security in the mining area.
The Democratic Republic of Congo is located near the equator, with frequent thunderstorm activity. The electronic components of photovoltaic power plants and energy storage systems are highly susceptible to damage from lightning induced overvoltage. Faced with multiple challenges such as tight construction schedules, delayed cross-border logistics, and complex device debugging, the technical team of Henan Yangbo Lightning Protection Technology followed up throughout the process and tailored a comprehensive lightning protection solution.
In this project, Henan Yangbo Lightning Protection Technology did not stop at traditional lightning protection equipment installation, but introduced the active protection concept of “digitalization and intelligence”. By deploying intelligent SPDs (surge protectors) and lightning online monitoring systems at critical nodes, real-time monitoring of grounding status, SPD lifespan, and lightning activity has been achieved 24/7. This plan is like installing a “digital lightning rod” on the power station, which not only provides early warning before lightning strikes occur, but also accurately locates the fault point, greatly improving the subsequent operation and maintenance efficiency, and providing solid technical support for the long-term safe and stable operation of this photovoltaic power station.
The successful delivery of the project is not only a proof of Henan Yangbo Lightning Protection Technology’s strength in the international new energy lightning protection field, but also a microcosm of the deep integration of “Chinese technology” and “African demand” in the field of green energy.
In the future, Henan Yangbo Lightning Protection Technology will continue to provide safer and more intelligent lightning protection system solutions for global new energy customers with an international perspective.
